Icegate is a portal e-filing services and commercial freight carriers and other customers of Customs and Central Excise. These customers are called trading partners. Icegate is an infrastructure project that the Department of EC / EDI and data communication. With such a facility could provide the service of a range of services, including electronic filing of bill of entry (import goods declaration) and bills from the Merchant Shipping (Goods of export declaration) and electronic messages between Customs and trade with a choice of communication facilities, including communication protocols used on the Internet. Carriers and freight forwarders may occur on the Internet with the help of this facility. In addition to the flow of data between customs services and various regulatory agencies and licensing, such as DGFT, RBI and DGCIS. The National Import Database (NIDB) Database and Export (CID) is also maintained by Icegate. All documents and electronic messages by the Icegate be processed by Customs' end of the Indian Customs EDI System (ICES), which operates in 36 places of duty.
Icegate based on a reliable high-speed network ICENET of central India Customs and Excise Network. This network is linked to 36 customs DGRI, the Directorate of Evaluation, (CBEC) North Block, and the card Headquarters. There are 70 leased lines and MPLS to support activities and all these links are currently functional.
The Icegate operating software that provides a variety of technological opportunities for increasing trade in communications and messaging standards. The software also provides efficient management of the movement of incoming and outgoing messages and documents.
To ensure that all links and the necessary equipment, services at the gateway, a software called Enterprise Management Systems installed at the central management of the facility. The system provides help desk facilities.
To ensure the secure archiving, is proposed to use digital signatures on the bill of entry and other documents and messages on the bridge. To this end, a CA is in place for issuing digital signature certificates.
Excise-Re-engineering of the project is underway and suggested that the electronic submission of Central Excise and Service Tax. Icegate The portal can be used for this purpose.
